Foundations Review With Intro
I have been trying foundations for years. I read the magazines but the one's they tend to recommend for us brown beauty brigade are pricey. I'm talking the Dior's of the cosmetic world; most of us don't have $65 dollars to drop on a foundation we prolly gotta order online anyways. And then who wants to hassle with shipping it back. So you paid about $78 after shipping and tax for something that's going to sit in a drawer. Uh huh. Not gone happen. But we want flawless dewy (or matte if that's your thing) skin too! So you hit up CVS and then graduate to Sephora or MAC and after you calculate what you've spent you start thinking bout the one's that custom blend, until you see the prices, then you end up frustrated. Well, that's my story.
So here are some that I have tried.
1) Loreal True Match Foundation. I used it a few years ago (c7-Nut Brown) and constantly got compliments on how good my skin was. Fooled ya. HA. I thought as I smiled. Well, secret's out. Left my skin with a better than skin gorgeous finish. And with BOGO it's affordable. The price has dropped in the last few years. I remember it costing $12 or so. Got range.
2) Maybelline Mouse Foundation. My friend loves this foundation. Maybe they redid the formula. I tried this when I was a freshman (dark 2-caramel). I remember not being impressed. It looked a lil heavy. Odd huh. I throw it away. So that's a no no no for me. Also, it left a matte finish and the color was off. (Have also tried a discontinued foundation stick. I remember liking it better so maybe someday.)
(Side note- Loreal and Maybelline are both owned by Loreal. How come Maybelline doesn't have that many shades for us in most of their products IDK. Hmmm.)
3) MAC Moistureblend*. Hmmm. It's okay. I don't care for the smell. It doesn't stink. It doesn't have a makeup smell, it that makes sense. The shade is a lil off. However, it doesn't leave a visible trace if you don't layer too much. I don't like it for layering coverage but it does blend nicely. Use the ECO Tools Powder Brush to whip it on. Nice satin finish. (Also tried Studio Sculpt Gel but it doesn't come in my color.)
4) Revlon Color Stay Foundation. This was before the foundation got all big. They changed the colors too. They have a wider range, which always receives a warm welcome from us beauties. Here is a brand that knows we come in a multitude of colors. The price is higher than it used to be. Also tried a cream three in one and it worked similar to the Moistureblend. Now I'm working with the Bare Naturals in deep. I like the ease but it's matte and I don't care for matte. But if you like matte and you have caramelish skin give it a go. It does match.
5) Covergirl (Several types) None matched my skin or even came close. I have tried the brand many times. I even gave the Queen Collection a go b4 I knew they weren't animal friendly. So I'll be trying no mo of their stuff. Didn't work anyways. I tried the Aqua Smooth, powders, but not true match. Tawny and Toasted were a no go.
6)Stila Perfecting Foundation Stick and Stila Natural Liquid Foundation Love Love Love Love. Stick works great (I use a lil I and J or just J) and it blends in seconds. Skin looks luminous. When I wore the Liquid got that same great skin compliment.
7)Sue Devitt Liquid Foundation I like it. Skin looked good. My shade had the word Moon in it I believe. I should look it up. Sorry. That's all I recall. Oh, and it was a lil pricey.
I hope this works as a guide to you. All of these products I have used and some I finished. Stila is my favorite. It's the reason it is one of my favorite brands. If it were less expensive that would be great but it sometimes come in kits. Check out www.stilacosmetics.com or www.beautycrunch.com to find deals.
You can find most of these products at Beauty/Drugstore.com or your local stores.
* Moistureblend may have discontinued. But you can purchase other foundations from MAC.
Love y'all.
